The Burn Is Not the End

Let them say you are burning.

Let them flinch at the light.

They will call it destruction.

You will know it as clarity.

The fire is not an ending.

It is the moment she stops holding it in.

Stops shrinking to be safe.

Stops softening what was always meant to blaze.

There is a point in every becoming where containment is no longer possible.

The version of her that tolerated, minimized, negotiated herself into smaller spaces — that version reaches its limit.

The burn begins there.

Not as chaos.

As truth.

When she finally says what she has swallowed.

When she refuses what she once endured.

When she no longer translates her power into something easier for others to digest.

It will feel sudden to the outside world.

But it was building for years.

Fire is often misunderstood because it is visible.

It disrupts the familiar shape of things. It changes structures.

It makes comfort impossible.

But fire also purifies.

It strips away what was false. It reveals what can withstand heat.

The burn is not punishment.

It is initiation.

An initiation into a self that no longer negotiates her worth. Into boundaries that do not tremble. Into a voice that does not apologize for existing at full volume.

Some will step back when she stops shrinking.

Some will say she has changed.

She has.

She is no longer managing everyone else’s comfort at the expense of her own integrity.

The fire is not something she survives.

It is something she becomes.

Because once she has felt her own heat — once she has seen what remains after the smoke clears — she cannot return to being small.

The burn is not the end.

It is the beginning of a woman who no longer dims herself to stay safe.

And that kind of fire does not destroy.

It illuminates.
