The Skin We Outgrow

We spend years believing the person we are is permanent.
As though identity were something we discover once...
and simply keep.
Life rarely agrees.
It asks us to outlive our certainty.
To release opinions that once defined us.
To loosen our grip on stories that no longer fit.
At first, it feels like losing ourselves.
Perhaps it is.
But not every loss is subtraction.
Some are invitations.
Because the hardest part of becoming isn't changing.
It's accepting that we were never meant to remain the same.
Maybe the life we're trying to hold together...
is simply a skin we've already outgrown.
