What Time Cannot Heal

what time cannot heal

There is a phrase we repeat so often that we rarely stop to question it.

Time heals all wounds.

Does it?

Or does time simply teach us how to carry them?

Some hurts soften.

Some memories no longer steal our breath.

But some wounds are never healed by time.

They are simply buried beneath busy lives, quiet routines, and years of learning how to function.

We mistake survival for healing because it asks less of us.

Yet what remains unspoken rarely disappears.

It settles into our silence. Our distance. The parts of ourselves we no longer know how to explain.

Time didn't erase the pain.

It only made it familiar.

Healing asks something different.

Not more time—

but more honesty.

The courage to look at what still aches. To name what we've hidden. To stop measuring recovery by the calendar and begin measuring it by our willingness to face what is true.

Perhaps the question isn't,

"How much time has passed?"

Perhaps it's,

"What has time quietly taught me to ignore?"

Because some wounds don't need more years.

They need more truth.

Until next time,

Tamar
