When the Body Becomes the Story

Before I ever wrote a word, the body was already writing it.

It was there in the sleepless nights, when rest wouldn’t quite arrive.

In the ache that lived behind my ribs without asking permission.

In the quiet pull to go inward, even when the world kept asking me to explain, produce, decide.

I thought I was avoiding the page.

I told myself I was stuck. Distracted. Unready.

But what I was really doing… was listening.

Listening to the places that didn’t speak in sentences.

To the tension that showed up before thought.

To the memories that surfaced as sensation instead of story.

The body has its own ink.

Its own rhythm.

Its own way of remembering what the mind learned to set aside.

It records what we survive.

What we adapt around.

What we carry long after we’ve learned how to function.

Sometimes we only find the real story when we stop trying to tell it

and start letting it move through us.

Not forcing clarity.

Not demanding answers.

Just allowing what’s been held to rise in its own time.

Nove was born from that space.

Not from plot or structure.

Not from a perfectly outlined idea.

But from sensation.

The weight of air in a quiet room.

The flicker of a familiar scent that opened something unnamed.

The pull of a memory I didn’t know I still carried—one that lived more in my chest than my thoughts.

This wasn’t a story I could think my way into.

It was one I had to feel my way toward.

This post is for anyone who senses that their healing lives somewhere deeper than language.

For anyone who has tried to “figure it out” and still felt like something essential was missing.

For anyone whose body keeps speaking, even when words feel far away.

You are not lost.

You are not behind.

You are not failing to articulate something that should be easier.

You are just learning to read yourself again.

A quiet note, when it matters. If these reflections resonate, you’re welcome to join the note.
