I Arrived in Layers

I didn't arrive here all at once.
I arrived in layers.
For years, much of my work happened around people.
I built experiences, produced large-scale events, formed partnerships, and created spaces rooted in culture, history, and belonging.
I knew how to make things happen.
How to lead.
How to take an idea and give it somewhere to live.
But life has a way of changing the questions.
Over time, my world became less about the stages I stood on and more about the
people I stood beside.
I became a grandmother.
I walked beside my father through the final chapter of his life.
And now, as my family prepares to welcome another grandchild (anytime), I find
myself thinking differently about time.
About what stays.
About what matters after all the things we thought mattered so much.
There wasn't one dramatic moment when everything changed.
That's what I've come to understand about becoming.
It often happens quietly.
Through loss.
Through love.
Through an ordinary Tuesday when you realize you don't see something the way
you used to.
Little by little, life was changing me.
And somewhere in those layers, Nove began.
Not because I had figured anything out.
Quite the opposite.
I had become more interested in the questions.
The ones we carry privately.
The ones that appear when an old definition of success no longer fits.
The ones that make us wonder who we're becoming when we are no longer quite
who we were.
So I started writing.
About the in-between places.
About identity and expectation. About carrying, changing, noticing, releasing,
remembering.
And somewhere along the way, those words became books, reflections, Layers
and a place I now call Nove.
Maybe that's why this work feels so personal to me.
I'm not writing from the other side of becoming.
I'm writing from inside it.
I am still changing.
Still noticing.
Still discovering that some of the chapters we never planned to write become
the ones that reveal us most.
Nove has changed recently, too.
The space has been quietly reshaped to better reflect what it is becoming
and what I hope you'll find when you come here.
Not answers.
Something more interesting than that.
A reason to look again.
